23 new certificates on food safety management system obtained

Jeju National University’s Incubation Team for Professional Farmers recently held a training session for the internal examiners, the university announced on Thursday (Sept. 26). The operation of the course on FSSC/ISO 22000 was commissioned to an international accreditation agency named DNV Assurance Korea.
After completing the course, 23 students of the university’s agro business incubation center obtained the certificate as an examiner for food safety management systems.
The training course is offered as a subject for associated majors of the incubation team for those students who consider getting a job or starting a business in the agricultural industries.
Since 2006, the incubation team has offered training courses for agro sciences majors, with the support of Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs and the Korea Agency of Education, Promotion and Information Service in Food, Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries.
Recently, its education programs have focused on the safety control of agro products and the use of the school’s Incubating Site for Smart Farm Start-ups.
Kim Dong-soon, head of the incubation team, explained that FSS/ISO 22000 is an international standard for the preventive management of hazardous factors in food related businesses. The team’s training course offers students an opportunity to learn about effective business management in the related field.
