Post-PhD Mariappan’s paper selected as top journal’s cover Supercapacitor for alternating current line filtering developed

Vimal Kumar Mariappan, Jeju National University’s post-doctoral researcher from India, succeeded in publishing his latest article in Small, a renowned journal in the scholarship of advanced nano particles.

Dr. Mariappan’s paper is titled, “Electrospun Polymer-Derived Carbyne Supercapacitor for Alternating Current Line Filtering”, and was used as the front cover of the latest edition of Small.

The article examines a filtering device that is a vital component of electronic goods that rectifies ripples that occur upon converting alternating current to direct current and attenuates high-frequency noise. In the article, Dr. Mariappan and his co-authors demonstrate carbyne-based high-frequency symmetric supercapacitor with ideal capacitive behavior even at an ultra-high scan rate.

Previously, Dr. Mariappan had received the Best Thesis Prize at Jeju National University’s doctoral course in the 2020 academic year. Currently, he conducts a follow-up study of his doctoral paper, funded by the National Research Foundation of Korea.
