Post-PhD Poguluri’s wins Best Paper Award in renewable energy conference

Sunny Kumar Poguluri, Jeju National University’s post-doctoral researcher from India, recently won the Best Paper Award at the 2021 Conference of the Korean Society for New and Renewable Energy, the university announced on Friday (Sept. 3).

Dr. Poguluri’s paper is titled, “Numerical hydrodynamic analysis of a wave energy convertor-rotor in irregular waves”.

The paper was recognized for its excellency and uniqueness by simulating the locomotive performance of the wave energy convertor-rotor in irregular waves, which can be installed in the west seas of Jeju Island.

Recently, Jeju National University has completed a four-year research project on the development of original technologies of using 1MW wave-power generation system. The project was assigned and sponsored by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and the Korea Energy Technology Evaluation and Planning.

After completing the research project, the university was well-established as a leading education and research institute in the field of renewable ocean energy.

Prof. Bae Yoon Hyeok, who advised Dr. Poguluri’s research, expected the research findings will upgrade the level of Jeju’s wave-power generation and speed up the commercialization of the related technologies in and out of Korea.
