‘Living Lab Campus’ with local community to be held

Jeju National University’s National University Promotion Project Center will hold the Living Lab Campus event for two months, the university announced on Wednesday (Sept. 1).

The program is organized and operated jointly by the university, Jeju Social Economy Center, and Jeju Cultural City Center. From Sept. 3 to Oct. 31, the participants will solve urgent issues of local industries online and offline, using the ‘Living Lab’ methodologies.

‘Living Lab’ refers to a laboratory that is alive. It is a platform where private enterprises, the civil society, and the public sector conduct innovative activities together in certain regions.

The planned Living Lab Camp will involve the business areas of accessible travel planning, culture and art programming in the Hwabuk Industrial Complex, packaging for eco-friendly consumption and lifestyle, and hot item producing using surplus agro products from Gujwa-eup.

The program will group the private businesses and individual residents into teams. After mentoring and collaboration, the teams will propose the production of prototypes or complete products. The performances will be automatically advanced to a competition, and the performance presentation ceremony will be held on Dec. 29.

Jeju National University’s National University Promotion Project Center plans and runs problem-solving programs that involve the university and the local community members.
