Nat’l Univ. Promotion Center’s history tour program successfully completed

 

 

Jeju National University’s National University Promotion Center held a program for Jeju-based youth touring historical sites in the southeastern region of mainland Korea.

 

The center arranged the program to help local students establish correction historical awareness of Korea by offering them an opportunity to travel outside Jeju Island. The program also aims to visit key historical sites in the modern and contemporary history of Korea.

 

From Sept. 29 to Oct. 1, a group of Jeju-based undergraduates visited Busan and Changwon, following the first round of the program which covered the nation’s southwestern cities of Gunsan and Mokpo.

 

Busan and Changwon are known to be the place of the second biggest independence movement staged by Korean students. The program itineraries included visiting the Busan Modern History Museum, the Baeksan Memorial Hall, the Ilshin Girls’ School Memorial Hall, the Gyeongnam Independence Movement Memorial Monument, the Chu Ki-chol Memorial Hall, and the National Museum of Japanese Forced Mobilization.

 

The final round of the historical tour of this year will cover the southeastern inland regions, including Daegu and Andong.

 

Those who completed the program will hold a performance-sharing event to shed new light on the value of the nation’s independence movement, an official said.
