University-police joint inspection on campus enforced against spy cams

Jeju National University and local police officers launched a thorough inspection team to keep the school safe from spy camera crimes, the school’s Center for Human Rights (CHR) said Friday (Oct. 1).
The CHR inspection team was joined by the Jeju Dongbu Police Station, the Jeju Seobu Police Station, and the university’s Student Union.
The joint inspection team began checking whether illegal cameras are installed in a female restroom or changing room of the University Headquarters, Student Union Hall, or other facilities that students may access.
On Sept. 30, the university’s CHR held a preventive course on digital sex crime, which was a special lecture program on the 3rd day of the CHR Human Rights Education Commemorative Event.
The joint inspection by the university and the local law enforcement agency will continue through to Oct. 15.
Concerning a recent spike in digital sex crime in Korea, the CHR has conducted the joint inspection regularly every year since its creation in 2017.
According to Kim Eun Ju, the director of the center, more inspections will be organized on an unscheduled basis to keep the school facilities safe for students at all times.
