From January 21 to 26, JNU, Jeju Tourism University, Jeju Halla University, and JNU Hospital successfully carried out the "Global Help Volunteer Corps" program, a six-day, four-night volunteer initiative.

With the goal of "Learn while serving," the program encouraged students to use their skills in nursing and dental hygiene to help others, rather than just doing general volunteer work.

A total of 52 people—40 students and 12 professors from the three universities—joined the program, along with 9 staff members (7 doctors and 2 nurses) from JNU Hospital. Together, they provided medical care to people in need in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.

The volunteers visited Kat Plot and Batheay, two villages outside Phnom Penh. There, local doctors, nurses, and students worked together to check people’s blood pressure and blood sugar levels.

Seven medical staff from JNU Hospital also provided consultations for various health issues, including internal medicine, surgery, orthopedics, and obstetrics and gynecology, and prescribed medicines.

During the program, the team treated over 400 patients. They also performed a surgical operation in cooperation with Cambodia National Children's Hospital.

To show appreciation, the Cambodian Chief Minister, the Cambodian Federation of Youth Doctors, and Batheay Hospital gave thank-you letters to all the medical staff and volunteers.

The Cambodian Chief Minister and other officials visited the volunteer site, personally thanked the team for their hard work, and asked for continued support. Many local reporters covered the event, and Cambodia’s state-run broadcaster, B TV, reported in detail on the group’s activities.
