Award ceremony held for exemplary teaching methods

 

 

Jeju National University’s Faculty of Liberal Arts held the award ceremony for the 2021 JNU Contest for Teaching Methods on Friday (Oct. 1).

 

The contest was held for the cases where professors self-analyzed their subjects to improve teaching quality. The juries selected the winners to be Prof. Jang Myunghoon (Architecture) for the First Prize, Prof. Kim Il-bang (Social Studies Education) for the Second Prize, and Prof. Yang Sung-soo (Tourism Convergence) for the Third Prize.

 

Since 2019, the university’s Faculty of Liberal Arts started has held the teaching method contest to share the different pedagogical approaches among the faculty members.

 

In the 2021 fall semester, the contest will accept additional cases on the lectures recommended by learners. The results of the contest will be compiled into a booklet for new teachers for reference.

 

Yang Chang-yong, the director of the Faculty of Liberal Arts, said the rapidly changing educational environment calls for challenges and shifts in the teaching methods. The school will work further to strengthen the capacity of its faculty members by building an excellent educational model based on the case studies, he added.
