국어문화원, 도내 중고생 대상 ‘제주어 교육’ 실시
Jeju language course for middle and high school students launched

Jeju National University’s Korean Language and Culture Center has recently launched a Jeju language course for middle and high school students on Jeju Island, the institute announced on Tuesday (Sept. 28).

The educational course was arranged, sponsored by the Jeju Special Self-Governing Province, for the purpose of helping local teenagers learn better understand the significance and values of the indigenous Korean dialect in the Jeju region.

To introduce broad examples of using the language, the course will involve five different lectures on the characteristics of the language and its usages shown on media.

The lecture began in Shinseong Girls’ High School on Sept. 4, and will continue to be held in six more schools across Jeju Island.
