Intelligence Software Education Center selected to receive NRF funds AI education system for elementary and middle school students to be established

Jeju National University’s Intelligence Software Education Center has been selected to receive funds for institutes on humanities and social studies provided by the Ministry of Education (MOE) and the National Research Foundation of Korea (NRF), the university announced on Thursday (Sept. 16).
The state-funding program aims to create specialized research centers and foster researchers in the field of humanities studies.
With the latest decision made by the MOE and the NRF, the school’s Intelligence Software Education Center is to receive funds worth 200 million won for the next six years.
The center plans to invest the funds into the development of specialized curricula and teaching and learning models for elementary and middle students, with artificial intelligence technologies applied. The center’s research projects will be focused on the creation of AI-based teaching materials, including textbooks.
To reduce the digital divide, researchers will also study customized teaching methods for digitally marginalized groups, while working to converge the field of humanities sciences with different school subjects using AI technologies.
