4th Jeju International Contemporary Music Festival scheduled for Nov. 4-5

 

 

Jeju International Contemporary Music Association will hold the 4th Jeju International Contemporary Music Festival, which is scheduled to perform in Jeju National University’s Ara Muse Hall at 7:30 p.m., Nov. 4-5, 2021.

 

The event will feature musical pieces arranged by musicians from Jeju, Seoul, Daegu, the United States, Japan, and Belgium.

 

On Nov. 4, the concert will begin with Ju Seong Lee’s piece for a string quartet, titled “Under the starry sky of a foreign nation”, followed by “String Quartet No. 2, 3, and 5” composed by Philip Glass. The next piece will be Jie Sun Lim’s “Possible Impossibility”, which includes the melody of a Jeju folk song. “Pristine Oceanic Resonance” by Ninomiya Tsuyoshi will recreate the sound of Jeju seas. A percussion collaboration with electric instruments will feature the pieces composed by Tae Hong Park, Kwang Rae Kim, and Bum Ki Kim.

 

The following day, the musicians will perform Ryong Deok Kim’s “In the Dormitory Room”, an electrical musical piece mixed with video images. The other performances will include “Circulation of Life” (by Song Yee Jun), “Manjanggul” (by Seung Eun Lee), “On the Island in 1948” (by Jeong Hun Choi), “Slowly, Silently, and Suddenly” (by Kang Gyu Lee), “Bird, Bird” (by Eun Kyung Kang), and “The Universe” (by Ludwig Albert).
