‘2021 제주권역 대학창의발명대회’ 개최
Invention contest for local undergraduates and postgraduates scheduled

Jeju National University’s Intellectual Property (IP) Education Center will host the 2021 Jeju Regional University Creativity and Invention Contest, the center announced Wednesday (Oct. 27).

The IP Education Center has scheduled the invention contest, jointly with the university’s Leaders in Industry-University Cooperation (LINC+) Center, for the purposes of encouraging local young inventors to create IPs.

Any local undergraduate or postgraduate student whose address is registered in Jeju may submit an entry for the contest. The formerly created contents are eligible for entry submission if the submission is made within six months after the release of the content or four years after its patent application.

The application will continue until Nov. 7 on the contest’s online application page. The winners will be determined and announced on Dec. 1 after a review of the applications and the entry presentations.

Kim In-jung, director of the IP Education Center, said in an interview that the contest will help raise local public awareness of IPs, leading the incubation of IP experts in the Jeju region. The knowledgeable specialists will serve as the growth engine of local industries, he expected.
