Agreement signed for transfer of portable gamma-ray imager technologies

Jeju National University’s Industry-Academy Cooperation Foundation signed an agreement with NeosisKorea corp. on the commercialization of the portable gamma-ray imager developed by the university.
Under the agreement, cooperation for research will be promoted between the two parties in order to secure the technological credibility.
Jeong Man-hee, professor at the College of Engineering who leads the development of the device, said the latest agreement will help enhance Korea’s self-reliance in the radiometric technologies.
Currently, Korea imports portable gamma-ray imagers from the United States and Europe. Given the price of the device worth 200 million won, the commercialization of the recently developed device will highly likely contribute to national economy.
Jeju National University’s device features the technological advancement level of TRL 8, which can prevent radiation accidents and enables a quick and effective response to urgencies. The device will be launched in the Korean market in the second half of 2021.
