Students revisit contemporary Korean history through educational tour program

Nat’l Univ. Promotion Center’s history tour program successfully completed

Jeju National University’s National University Promotion Center held a program for Jeju-based youth touring historical sites in the Gyeongsangbukdo region of the Korean mainland.

The center arranged the program to help local students establish correction historical awareness of Korea by offering them an opportunity to travel outside Jeju Island. The program also aims to visit key historical sites in the modern and contemporary history of Korea.

From Oct. 27 to Oct. 29, 12 Jeju-based undergraduates visited Daegu and Andong, following the first and second rounds of the program which covered the Jeollabukdo, Jeollanamdo, and Gyangsangnamdo regions.

Andong is known for the diverse types of anti-Japanese independence campaigns that were carried out by village in the different periods of time. The participants visited historic monuments and museums related to the nation’s independent movement that where they could learn about the 100 years of contemporary Korean history.

Those who completed the program will hold a performance-sharing event early in December to shed new light on the value of the nation’s independence movement, an official said.
