3rd Traditional Games Championships scheduled

The 2nd Traditional Gaming Championships series will held for the faculty and students, the Jeju National University’s Ocean Leisure Sports Center announced Thursday (Nov. 4).
On Nov. 15 and 22, the JNU institute will determine the champions of “chicken fights” and the tug-of-war game. “Chicken fights” is a traditional Korean game where the players grab one of their ankles of their feet so that they are standing on one leg and attempt to knock the other person.
The championships will run in the tournaments, where 16 male and 16 female contenders are supposed to send a text message to the organizers (010-2881-1430) to make an entry.
The JNU Ocean Leisure Sports Center has made efforts to raise public awareness of and draw attention to traditional Korean games since 2019, when the National Research Foundation started funding its six-year research project on sports education programs using traditional games.
More information is offered on the website, Blog, and Instagram pages of the center. (, https://blog.naver.com/tradition109, https://www.instagram.com/korea_traditiongame/)
