IP Education Center holds special lecture on ‘patent-map drawing’

 

 

Jeju National University’s Intellectual Property Education Center (Director Kim, In-jung) held a special lecture on ‘Patent-map Drawing’ on Nov. 5 at the Great Hall of the College of Applied Life Science, JNU.

 

The purpose of the lecture was to enhance IP capabilities of JNU faculty members. As IP grows evermore important these days, the lecture dealt with step-by-step methods, including preparations, quantitative-qualitative analysis, and drawing patent map, so that all members from various backgrounds will commonly be able to use.

 

Researcher Yoon, Hye-jin from Korea IP Strategy Agency was invited as the special lecturer to take an example in the field of chemistry. Content of her lecture included prior arts investigation, IPC classification, and drawing patent-map using analytical method.

 

 

Yoon stressed the importance of tech-tree in the analysis. How to configure search formula, and tips on securing patent data were explained in her session. She induced a smooth understanding of the floor by breaking down the method into a step-by-step process where she picked out 50 cases of core patents from about a cluster of 10,000 cases of patent data through the quantitative analysis.

 

Kim, In-jung, Director of the center said, “Our center runs customized teaching and learning program (T3) which the university and local community demand. We provide support so that everyone recognizes the importance of intellectual property and that they utilize the method learned to their subjects and tasks at hand.”
