Human rights center runs history trip program on 4·3

JNU Center for Human Rights (Director Kim, Eun-joo) and Jeju 4·3 Peace Foundation (Director Yang, Jo-hoon) co-host a history trip program called ‘The Great Step to Know the True Meaning of Jeju 4·3.’ The program begins on Nov. 17th for JNU students (including international students) and faculty.
The purpose of the program is to find out the historical facts and tragedy of Jeju 4·3, understanding the incident as a matter of human rights and looking for the role of future citizens in times of peace.
The program is supported by the National University Development Plan of JNU. During the three trips, curators will accompany the party along the visit to the Jeju 4·3 historic sites (including Jeju 4·3 Peace Park, Goneul-dong, Neobeunsungi).
Director Kim of the Center for Human Rights says, “Jeju 4·3 is slowly being forgotten, and I hope the trip can give participants an opportunity to visually experience the pains people had to go through. I hope the program be a trigger to pass down what we should not forget about Jeju 4·3.”
