Local youths stage campaign for picking up litter while jogging on Olle trails

Jeju National University’s Leaders Industry-University Cooperation (LINC+) Promotion Center held a ‘plogging’ (a combination of jogging with picking up litter) campaign on Olle trail routes.
Between Nov. 26 and 28, members of the Young Men in Jeju (YMJ) Foundation participated in the campaign through the Jeju Refresh Project.
The campaign aims to devise methods of collecting and recycling litter from the coasts and Olle trail routes of Jeju Island.
The event was adopted the idea suggested by the Refresh 064 team at the KD Innovator Contest, a start-up incubating program of the LINC+ Promotion Center held in June this year. The uniform was designed by a start-up club “Amitier” of Jeju National University using used plastic materials. Another school club named “Faso” planned the plogging campaign, in collaboration with the Dodam Studio, one of the school’s on-campus start-ups.
The participants of the program will be entitled to serve as facilitators of the second-round Jeju Refresh Project scheduled for the first half of 2022.
Jeju National University’s LINC+ Promotion Center and the YMJ Foundation will utilize the project to explore the substantive values of used resources, running programs to develop ideas for start-ups and local contribution and eventually building a model for the circulation of used resources.
