Hackathon for big data-based smart tourism held

 

 

Jeju National University’s Innovation Center for Engineering Education (JNU-ICEE) held the 2021 Smart Tourism Big Data Hackathon between Nov. 6 and 28.

 

The hackathon event was organized by the JNU-ICEE, Jeju Tourism Organization (JTO), WISET Regional Agency of Jeju at Jeju National University, Jeju National University’s Software Convergence Education Institute, Cheju Halla University’s Innovation Center for Engineering Education, and Jeju TechnoPark.

 

The entries included a total of 44 proposals made by 10 teams of Jeju National University and Cheju Hall University students. The proposed ideas addressed how to create new tourist services and businesses using public and private-sector big data provided by JTO.

 

The Gold Prize was presented to the Start team consisting of Jeju National University students who suggested a Jeju-type service showing recommendable ‘workation’ (a combined term of work and station) sites.

 

The MBTI team of tourism, business management, and computer engineering majors at both universities won the Silver Prize for the idea on recommending customized tourist sites based on the visitors’ MBTI results. The idea on providing information on electric vehicle chargers proposed by the OZ team was awarded the Bronze Prize.

 

The winners of the Encouragement Prize include the Eoyeong Tapseo team and the Easy Chat team, which suggested the ideas on strengthened interoperability of means of local public transportation and on the chatbot service for digitally alienated people, respectively.
