KEAS annual conference scheduled to be held at JNU

30 years of local educational autonomy to be assessed

The Korean Educational Administration Society (KEAS) will hold its annual conference on Nov. 27 at Jeju National University.

The academic event with the theme of “30 years after local educational autonomy is co-organized by Jeju National University and the state-led Korea Local Education Institute, and funded by the National Research Foundation of Korea.

Given the national quarantine guidelines to prevent the spread of COVID-19, the conference will feature a hybrid format, consisting of both online and offline meetings.

The morning sessions will be virtually held, under the themes of school administration, university administration, and educational policies. In addition to presentations on different topics, the sessions will have subcommittee-level talks, as well as an institutional session.

In the afternoon, the participants will discuss the performances and prospects of local educational autonomy, with a focus on the institutional significance and achievements of the system.

Professor Ko Jeon of Jeju National University, who is the current chairman of the KEAS, said the conference will provide a forum where educators can assess key achievements and challenges of the nation’s local educational autonomy.
