JNU’s LINC+ Group (led by Kang, Cheol-woong) held ‘Jaedae-ro,’ a performance reporting of the Regional Innovation Supports on Nov. 19.

The event is in its second year. From Oct. 8 the supporters accepted application for evaluation. Among the applicants, six teams are selected, and the activities began from Oct. 22 to Nov. 19.

Last year, the focus was on supporting family businesses and small and medium enterprises due to COVID. This year, a Jeju-style Ocktober Fest was planned to revitalize regional economy and tourism as Korea decided to go with COVID. Hallasan Soju, Hallim Park, and Jeju Beer, located in Hallim, west of Jeju took part in the event to make a festival that suits the beautiful scenery of the Beach of Hyeopjae and Geumneung.

For this, 22 students from 1st to 4th grades investigated and surveyed companies. They received consulting to suggest the flow of festival and its best content.

Activities were conducted in a Metaverse Gathertown platform with the background of Hyeopjae Beach which received positive response from both the students and companies in the line.

In the reporting, Team Locomotive was awarded with KRW 1 million and grand prize. The team partitioned the beach into separate sections with different purposes. At Hallim Park, various experience programs such as the Squid Game were set up. In addition, new service provision and the combination of the products of Jeju Beer and Hallasan Soju were suggested as the growth strategy for improving company value. The results of the reporting will be delivered to companies for utilization in improving service, and reference in the case of region’s festival planning.

JNU LINC+ Group said, “There are various programs suggested by the youth for the region’s revival and development, including family business support and linking with relevant institutions. This will become a base for the youth to grow into main agents of the region as they take part in resolving the region’s issues and sustainable development of Jeju.”
