Professor Kim Il-hwan ranked first for 11th presidential election

Kim, Il-hwan earns 54.5% voting from the second polling, followed by Kim, Hee-cheol.

Professor Kim, Il-hwan (59) of JNU Electrical Engineering major was elected as the first rank candidate for the Presidential Election of JNU.

Professor Kim earned 387 votes of the total 710 valid votes (54.5%) in the second polling for the 11th Presidential Election on Nov. 25 and ranked first among candidates.

His competitors, Professor Kim, Hee-chol (60) obtained 275 votes (38.73%), ranking second.

Professor Park, Gyeong-lin of the Department of Computer Science and Statistics ranked third, getting 48 votes (6.78%).

The first and second ranks are recommended for a review of the Ministry of Education after a research ethics screening of the university. The Ministry of Education is to hold a personnel committee for education officer. The Minister then seconds the candidate to the president, who will finalize the appointment.

For the first time in history of JNU, the polling was conducted online.

The 11th President of JNU will take office for four years since Feb. 21, 2022.
