Archives on university history to be collected marking 70th anniversary of school opening

Lee Moon-gyo, former president of the Jeju 4ㆍ3 Peace Foundation, donated to Jeju National University 445 historical items demonstrating the school’s student movement between 1960’s and 1990’s. Lee graduated from the university’s Department of Law.

The donation includes the documents that the former journalist collected during his undergraduate years and throughout his career path.

Donating the precious archives, Lee expected that his contribution will help publicize the fact that the university’s student movement led the revelation of the truth of Jeju 4ㆍ3 and the democratization of local society.

In 2018, the former student activist also donated 1,462 books on journalism to the school’s Department of Journalism and Public Relations.

Meanwhile, Jeju National University is collecting various types of archives that prove different activities of its members, marking the 70th anniversary of its opening next year.

The school accepts documents, photographs, artefacts, specimens of natural history, audio and visual materials, and publications. The collection will be displayed in the school’s history exhibition hall.
