Professor Jeong Man-hee of the Nuclear & Energy Engineering major was awarded with ‘The 5th iTRS Radiometry Technology Award’ in ‘2021 Symposium of Korean Association for Radiation Protection’ which was held on Nov. 24-26.

The award is the grand prize given by the Korean Association for Radiation Protection to researchers in the radiometry field. The purpose is to encourage and inspire researchers, and to promote the radiometry industry.

Professor Jeong was awarded for his study, ‘Computer simulation of nuclear material measurement system using fast neutron detection-based multiplicity measurement,’ where Jeong himself is the corresponding author with Hyeon, Soo-yeon, Yong, Hyeon-jin, Park, Seo-ryeong, Chae, Min-gi, and Bu, Ji-hwan as coauthors.

The research was conducted thanks to the support from Korea Foundation of Nuclear Safety, a Nuclear Safety and Security Commission-affiliated institute.

Professor Jeong said, “It is a great honor for me to be given with such a grand prize. I will do my best in making Korean radiometry technology one of the world-renowned. Also, I will proliferate knowledge so that people can more clearly understand radiation.”

Korean Association for Radiation Protection is one of the representative academic societies which strive for radiation protection, measurement, disaster prevention, medical utilization, and public acceptability.
