Jeju National University’s Department of English Education (College of Education) announced the winners of the 19th Jeju English Essay Contest for High School Students on Tuesday (Dec. 14).

The contest was co-organized by the department and the university’s National University Promotion Center and Educational Science Research Institute.

The Silver Prize was presented to Lee Ha-yeon (second year, Shinseong Girls’ High School) and Choi Min-chae (first year, Jeju Foreign Language High School), while the winners of the Bronze Prize include Kang Hae-in (first year, Seogwi Girls’ High School), Choi Min-seo (first year, Jeju Foreign Language High School), and Kim Ga-eun (second year, Shinseong Girls’ High School). The Encouragement Prize was awarded to Kim Jin-seok (first year, Seogwi High School), Park Shi-hyeon (first year, Jeju Girls’ High School), Oh Hong-kyeong (first year, Shinseong Girls’ High School), Lee Ki-jeong (first year, Ohyun High School), Ko Ga-hyeon (second year, Jeju Girls’ High School), and Jeong Jong-seok (second year, Sehwa High School). The Best Instructor Prize was presented to Oh Yeong-ho (Jeju Jungang Girls’ High School).

The university’s Department of English Education holds the annual contest for the purposes of contributing to the English-friendly infrastructure for the Jeju Free International City initiative and the development of the English language proficiency of local high school students.
