Inorganic chemistry lab awarded ministerial prize for safety control

Jeju National University’s Inorganic Chemistry Laboratory (College of Natural Sciences) received a citation presented by the Minister of Science and ICT, the university announced on Tuesday (Dec. 14).

The Ministry of Science and ICT recently held a review of the nation’s laboratories for their safety control levels and selected the university’s inorganic chemistry lab to certify the lab’s most outstanding safe control level.

Professor Lim Hee-jeong who leads the laboratory explained that the ministry recognized the laboratory’s efforts to create a safe environment by purchasing safety-related equipment and offering safety-related training for its researchers.

Jeju National University has recorded no safety-related accident in its laboratories since 2019 through safety education, medical checkups, and institutional improvement for researchers. Last year, the university was awarded another ministerial prize concerning the safety treatment of living modified organisms, while two of its labs earned a certificate for its excellent safety control levels.
