‘Hoping to help understand the value of cooperation between Korea and China’

Jeju National University (JNU, President Kim Eel-hwan) and the Jeju Special Self-Governing Province held a special welcoming event on April 24 for a group of 53 young people from China, led by Yuen Mingdao. The event took place at JNU Aramuse Hall and JNU Museum (Indahall) and included traditional Korean performances, cultural experiences, and a welcoming dinner.

In his welcome speech, JNU President Kim Eel-hwan said, “Korea and China are important neighbors and partners. It is meaningful for young people, who will lead our future, to understand each other’s cultures and build friendships.” He also added, “I hope this exchange helps the youth of both countries respect each other’s differences and better understand the value of working together.”

This event is part of the Korea-China Youth Exchange Project, organized by the Korea Foundation. It was held for the first time in five years since 2019. Last year, Korean youth visited China, and this year, Chinese youth are visiting Korea. The project gives young people from both countries a chance to learn more about each other’s cultures and build stronger friendships through ongoing exchanges.

Many important guests attended the event, including Yuen Mingdao, head of the Chinese youth delegation; Chen Ji-jun, Consul General in Jeju; Lee Jong-guk, Director of the Korea Foundation; and Kim Yang-bo, Director of the Culture, Sports, and Education Bureau of Jeju Province.
