A JNU biology undergraduate student is getting attention both on and off campus for his prolific publication of 10 SCI-level research papers.

Lim Kyung Joon is the man; he is a senior in biology, College of Natural Science Department of Biology. He currently works as an assistant at Korea Basic Science Research Institute located on the campus of Jeju TechnoPark.

Lim's research is in the area of marine biology. He was the first author on three of the ten papers published in such SCI journals as the Journal of Bacteriology and the International Journal of Microbial Taxonomy.

His research led him and his co-workers and mentors to the discovery of a new bacterial species isolated from the shore of Sungsan Sun Rise Peak in Sungsanpo, Seogwipo, and the findings were published in the International Journal of Microbial Taxonomy last year (September 2013).

Lim plans to pursue his graduate study at Jeju National University. His supervisor at Marine Biology Laboratory, Dr. Kim Dae Kyung, commented that with his prolific publication records and propensity to work hard in research lab he has a great potential to be an internationally promising scientist in the field of marine microbiology.
