Choi Kyung-joon, a Jeju National University professor of social studies education, recently won an academic award (English Thesis Award) at the Korea International Political Society (KAIS) General Assembly.

The winning paper is titled, “Democratic Constitutions Against Democratization: Law and Administrative Reforms in Weimar Germany and Implications for New Democracies”.

Choi’s paper analyzes the case of the Weimar Republic of Germany to study the impact of bureaucratic and judicial reform in emerging democratic countries on the countries’ consolidation of democracy.

The KAIS is a leading academic society in the field of social sciences. Since its establishment in 1956, the society has encouraged academic research and exchanges of international political scientists.
