JNU Hospital selected to operate Regional Drug Safety Center
Jeju National University Hospital has been designated as Regional Drug Sfafety Center for the first time in Jeju Province, according to the announcement released by Korea Institute of Drug Safety & Risk Management (Park Byung Joo, Director) last weekend (February 22, 2014).
The Korea Institute of Drug Safety & Risk Management supervises and monitors the side effects of drugs through Regional Drug Safety Centers around the country.
As of today, some 430,000 cases of drug side effects have been reported in Korea. The newly established JNU center plans to collect and evaluate the side effects of drugs, so that re-use of those drugs judged risky will be prevented.
There will be an official opening ceremony for the JNU Regional Drug Safety Center in JNU Hospital at 11:00, February 25, 2014. University and Hospital officials will be joined by Director Park Byung Joo of the Korea Institute of Drug Safety & Risk Management.
