Subtropical Horticulture Research and Nuclear Science and Technology Institutes to showcase research accomplishments
The Ministry of Education and the National Research Foundation invited Jeju National University Subtropical Horticulture Research Institute (Lee Hyo-Yeon, Director) and Institute for Nuclear Science and Technology (Lee Heon Joo, Director) to showcase their research accomplishments at the 2014 University Focus Research Exhibition to be held in National Science Museum in Dajeon during March 27-29, 2014.
This event aims at informing the general public of examples of creative research achievements made by nationwide university research laboratories and institutes.
Subtropical Horticulture Research Institute plans to display at the Exhibition △mutation-induced production of four-leaf clovers △five- and six-leaf clovers and their commercial scale production △souvenir items made with four-leaf clovers.
On the other hand, the Institute for Nuclear Science and Technology will introduce an optimized design technology of electric impedance sensor for depth measurements.
Forty five research institutes from 34 universities receiving grants from the Ministry and the National Research Foundation participate in the Exhibition program this year.
The JNU Subtropical Horticulture Research Institute was picked in 2007 as one of the country’s focus research institutes dedicated to the research and development of genetically modified subtropical horticultural crops and their environmental risk assessment studies.
The JNU Institute for Nuclear Science and Technology was established in 1982 with the support of the Ministry of Education and International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). The institute focuses its research efforts in applying radiation technology to biotechnology and environmental technology.
