Prof. Kim Haeng-sun of economics awarded ministerial award

Prof. Kim Haeng-sun in Jeju National University’s Department of Economics won the Minister of Public Administration and Security Award in recognition of her contribution to the development of local taxes.

Kim has been a member of the Local Tax Development Committee under the Ministry of Public Administration and Security since 2019. She has worked for the advanced local tax system by conducting research on the expansion of independent funds and the improvement of the local tax reduction system.

Specifically, her preliminary evaluation of local tax special cases and the feasibility of special case clauses suggested long- and short-term measures to improve the enforcement of the clauses.

The economic scientist and professor is currently a member of the Local Tax Development Committee under the Ministry of Public Administration and Security, a member of the Jeju Special Self-Governing Province Local Tax Review Committee, and a member of the Gangwon Province Local Tax Review Committee. For academic activities, he is the editor-in-chief of the Korean European Association, an editing board member and a research ethics committee member of the Local Finance Association (local finance division), and a permanent director of the Korean Financial Policy Association.
