Jeju National University's Leading Industry-Academic Cooperation (LINC+) Project Group held a presentation on the results of the Living Lab Capstone Design Contest for Regional Innovation on Dec. 23.
The contest was designed for local industries and related organizations to share their needs, to which students responded by participating in capstone design to discover new values for the community.
It is also a project in which local institutions, officials, and residents solve problems together at the site.
The Orion Foundation, Jeju Tourism Organization, and Jeju Techno Park supported the event and collaborated with the students.
The participants included 35 teams, of which 15 teams in the Orion Foundation’s “Regional Value Exploration Project,” 15 teams in the Jeju Tourism Organization’s “Jeju Tourism Project,” and five teams in the Jeju Techno Park’s “Regional Industry Competitiveness Project.”
The Best of the Best Prize for the Orion Foundation's “Regional Value Exploration Project” was awarded to the Ifore Team (Topic: Research on the spatial renewal design of elementary, middle, and high school classrooms to create an educational environment limiting eye fatigue), and the Boddle Muddle Team (Topic: Jeju organic branding and editorial design) won the Excellence Prize. The Orion Foundation presented Capstone Auction to all 15 teams that presented items of local public interest. Capstone Auction is a technology transfer of students’ items to companies, where collaboration and investment takes place when companies want to commercialize those items.
The Jeju Tourism Organization’s “Jeju Tourism Project” served as a venue where Jeju National University, Catholic University, and Chungnam National University shared the results of their students. Jeju National University’s Shall We Leave Team (Topic: Traveling in Jeju through Chinese Poems) won the grand prize (presented by the CEO of Jeju Tourism Organization).
