JNU Wild Animal Rescue Center releases rare bird fairy pitta to nature

An injured rare eight-colored bird, Fairly Pitta, was found in Jocheon township, Jeju a few days ago. The JNU Wild Animal Rescue Center treated the bird and released to nature last Sunday (May 25, 2014).
The rare bird is known to winterize in Southeast Asia, and migrates to Jeju Island during May through July for reproduction. The bird then returns to the tropics in October.
Fairly Pitta displays eight different colors in its feathers and body. Depending on body temperature, it develops up to 10 different colors. Because of its colors and mystic warbling, it is one of the bird watchers’ most sought after birds.
