Exhibition on Jangjeon Village opened at University Museum

 

The Jeju National University Museum is holding the 32nd special exhibition, titled “Jangjeon-ri, a Jeju village” in the museum's special exhibition room, the museum announced Wednesday (Jan. 5).

 

The exhibition is sponsored by the Jeju Cultural Center and the Jangjeon-ri Village Council for the exhibit of collections rented from villagers, including ancient documents, historic daily items, agricultural equipment, and ranching tools.

 

The event is sectioned with the themes of △ Jeju’s village “Jangjeon-ri” △ Jangjeon-ri in old literature △ Life of Jangjeon-ri villagers in old literature △ Raising cows and working in the field, and △ At that time, everyone lived like this.

 

The exhibition materials include approximately 100 pieces of old maps and documents, old household and agricultural tools, and old photos. The exhibit of household and farming tools will be offered with audio explanations based on the oral testimonies of villagers.

 

The exhibition began on Dec. 28 and will continue until Jan. 31. The museum held a commemorative event on Jan. 3, which was attended by Jeju National University President Song Seok-eon, Jeju Cultural Center Director Kim Soon-i, and some 40 residents of Jangjeon Village.
