Computer engineering prof. Song to receive R&D support

Jeju National University Prof. Song Wang-chul of computer engineering and his research team have been selected to receive 160 million won from the Circle Foundation for the research and development of cyber security technologies.

Song’s team and the Circle Foundation also signed an agreement on the financial support program.

The research support will be given to the project, titled “Intent-based networking and a blockchain-based approach to the zero touch and trust framework to realize a safe internet access.

Kwon Chi-joong, chairman of the Circle Foundation, said at the signing ceremony that the foundation is willing to provide multi-dimensional support for the development of technologies that will help solve the problems of humankind through innovative projects that individuals and startups can also participate in. “I expect the proposed technology to be successfully developed and contribute to the advancement of data security technologies,” he added.

The Circle Foundation selected six research teams in 2020 to support research and development in the fields of the environment, ecosystem, energy, and public health. The foundation decided in 2021 to provide support for two teams in cyber security, which includes Prof. Song’s research team.
