Second contest on pedagogical cases held for 2021 academic term

Best prizes announced for teachers and learners

 

Jeju National University’s Education Innovation Headquarters held the award ceremony for the 2nd JNU Pedagogical Case Contest for the 21st academic year at the university's Liberal Arts Lecture hall Thursday (Dec. 30).

 

The Jeju National University Teaching and Learning Center announced the two categories of the contest (instructors and learners) and received a total of 34 case examples.

 

As a result of the review, seven teachers were awarded for the category of instructors. In the case of “professors skilled in teaching,” Prof. Lee Kyung-eon at the College of Education was selected as the Best of the Best Prize for applying presentations, discussions, and computer-based learning) in the course. The Best of the Best Prize in the section of “well-learning professors” was presented to Boo Eun-ju, lecturer at the University of Education, for designing a course using different pedagogical methodologies such as discussions on creative problem-solving and design-thinking.

 

For the category of learners, eight students won the award, including the Best of the Best Prize winner named Choi Jin-yu, a student at the College of Education.

 

The Education Innovation Headquarters has contested various teaching methods for instructors since 2019. In the latest event, the category of learners was added to reflect students’ perspectives on recommendable teaching methods.

 

The results of the contest will be produced as a casebook and used for university education. Regarding the subject of the award-winning work for the category of learners, the relevant instructor will be interviewed to share their learning methods.

△ Best of the Best Award - Choi Jin-yu (Teachers’ College) △ Excellence Award - Kang Su-bin (College of Education), Lee Hyeong-joon (College of Humanities) △ Encouragement Award - Kim Il-jung (College of Social Science), Yang Su-bin (College of Natural Sciences), Jeong Su-jin, College of Nursing), Shim Yu-rim (College of Education), and Moon Ji-hyeon (College of Social Science).
