WISET센터, 제4회 여고생 공학캠프 개최
WISET Center ran 4th girls high engineering camp

Jeju National University Engineering Education Center (Ahn Ki Joong, Director) and WISET Jeju Branch (Doh Yang Hoe, Director) organized the 4th girls high school engineering camp on the campus last week (July 25, 2014). The camp event to induce girls high students to take up careers in science and engineering has been supported by the Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning, Korea Institute for Advancement of Technology, National Research Foundation, Korea Women Scientists and Technologists Support Center, Jeju Provincial Government and Jeju National University.

The camp has been held during Girls’ Engineering Week annually since 2011. 89 students from Jeju Province participated in the camp this year.

The campers heard a special talk entitled “To be a woman engineer” by Daum Communication’s Kim Yeon Ji (Dream Project Manager) which became the theme throughout the camp.

Open laboratory participating departments included Departments of Architectural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Food and Biotechnology, Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering and Maritime System Engineering.

Superior camper mentors and mentees were also awarded:

△ Outstanding Mentee (JNU Engineering Dean’s Prize) = Yang Se Mi (JNU Aux. High, sophomore)
 
△ Superior Mentee (〃) = Hyun Yae Won (Samsung Girls High, Freshman), Yang Yoo Jung (Seogwipo Girls, sophomore), Oh Eun Seo (〃 Freshman), Lee Seung Mi (Sehwa, sophomore), Chung Da Hye (Joongang Girls, freshman)
