A foreign graduate student studying at Jeju National University underwent transplantation of the cornea of his left eye and restored vision for the first time since he injured it when he was16 years old.

The lucky student is Paul Spols from Cambodia. Since his arrival on JNU campus, he has been on the list of a cornea for transplantation to his damaged left eye. With the help of graduate mentor Professor Cho Moon Je (Department of Biochemistry, School of Medicine) who provided financial help and JNU Hospital ophthalmologist Chung Jin Ho, Paul got a healthy cornea for the transplantation.

The relatively new JNU Hospital Cornea Transplantation Center had 22 successful case of transplantation of the cornea, thanks to the eleven donors of the corneas. At the JNU center, other patients are on the waiting list for the cornea for transplantation.
