Jeju National University (JNU) has been selected to implement the national-level project for the creation and utilization of intellectual properties, supported by the Korean Intellectual Property Office.

By earning the qualification, JNU will receive a total of 500 million won for five years starting from March this year, 100 million won per year.

Previously, JNU attracted this project to derive promising technologies for commercialization and to institutionalize the efficient management and maintenance of patents. This is to conduct in-depth interviews on its excellent research findings, which help create intellectual properties both inside and outside Korea. By making these efforts, the university aims to contribute to preventing the disappearance of companies’ demand-based patents and thus leading to technology commercialization through technology transfer and technology start-ups.

The Korean Intellectual Property Office publicly recruited applicants from universities and public research institutes for the project, finalizing the agent list of only a dozen institutions nationwide.

As a university agent of the national project, JNU will promote interviews on the invention with its researchers, consult on the commercialization of technologies for overseas patent applications and the use of specialized agencies, and work to commercialize technologies tailored to the needs of its corporate partners.
