Men’s team finishes runner-up in undergraduate kendo competition

Jeju National University’s Kendo Club finished the 2022 Korea Undergraduate Kendo Winter Championship with a runner-up in the men’s team competition. In the additional matches, two of its members were selected as the nation’s Standing Army servicemen.

The JNU Kendo Club attended the events held in the Changnyeong Sports Park, Gyeongsangnamdo Province. In the qualifying league for 26 teams in four groups, the university’s kendo players finished second with four wins, one draw, and one loss, advancing to the quarterfinals.

The JNU team then advanced to the semifinals by winning 4:1 against Chungbuk National University. The victory in the quarterfinals was followed by another splendid defeat of 5:2 against Daejeon University, which enabled them to avance to their first team final since its foundation.

The team ended the final match against Yongin University with a regrettable defeat, ranking second in the entire team matches.
