JNU Hospital opens Regional Mental Health Promotion Center
The Jeju National University Hospital (Kang Sung Ha, Hospital Director) started operating the Regional Mental Health Promotion Center with support provided by Jeju Autonomous Government, as it was announced last Wednesday (November 12, 2014).
The center has been designated as the regional hub for promoting mental health by the Ministry of Health and Welfare.
The JNU center is expected to perform such tasks as △planning of medium- and long-term mental health projects in Jeju △ establishing and checking mental health resources in Jeju △ research and advising related to mental health projects △ education and training of personnel in mental health and program development △ other mental health related issues.
The center’s operating budget of 760 million won/year will provide financial support for managing the four teams, namely, mental health promotion, mental society rehabilitation, suicide prevention, and 4.3 incident trauma overcoming teams.
Hospital Director Kang said that the fourteen years of JNU Hospital operational experience would be put to good use in promoting and managing the mental health and the quality of life of Jeju province’s residents.
