Integrated Smart Grid and Clean Energy Project launches active program




A launching formality for the Integrated Smart Grid and Clean Energy Personnel Training Project (Lee Gae Myung, Director) under the Ministry of Education’s Regional University Specialization Program (CK-1) was observed in JNU International Affairs Hall last Thursday (December 4, 2014).

The project initiative aims at achieving a Carbon-Free Island toward the carbon-free world through implementation of the professionals training program.

The project initiative was welcomed by JNU President Huh Hyang Jin and congratulated by Jeju Autonomous Government Governor Won Hee Ryong who promised and urged the attendees and Jeju residents to achieve a carbon-zero island for Jeju by developing sustainable alternative energy sources such as wind power and solar energy. To commemorate the initiative, Green Growth Committee Chairman Lee Seung Hoon presented a special lecture at the launching event.



The Departments of Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Communication Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Megatronics Engineering, Energy Engineering, and Bio-Chemical Engineering are involved in the training program in three specific focus areas of Smart Grid, Alternative Sustainable Energy and Electric Vehicles.

JNU Faculty Senate President Kim Chul Soo, faculty and staff, the newly elected Student Body President Won Il Kwon, Jeju Energy Development Corporation President Lee Sung Koo, Electric Power Trade Agency President Suh Kyung Moo, Electric Power Distribution South Jeju Electric Power Station Director Lee Woo Dal, and KET Jeju Branch Head Oh Sang Gon and Kim Yong Nam paid a congratulatory visit at the launching event.
