JNU President Huh Hyang Jin encouragingly sent off a team of JNU volunteers (Ara Global Volunteers, Professor Kim Kwang Shik, Faculty Leader) headed for Laos at a pre-departure gathering earlier today (January 23, 2015).

The volunteers team plans to work on △promotion of the university and international exchange program △self-development through social volunteerism △ global experience and voluntary health and welfare service activities.

On behalf of the volunteers, Park Byeong Sun (Department of Medicine, Student Volunteers Leader) and Hong Sun Joo (Department of Livelihood Environmental Welfare, co-Leader) made a pledge to be honorable in their voluntary service activities during January 25 through February 1, 2015 in Laos.

The Ara Global Volunteers team consists of 44 volunteers including professors, students and administrative officials. Health and medical voluntary services to be dispensed in a Laos village involve internal medicine, pediatrics, surgery, gynecology and dental clinics.

The team is scheduled to return home February 2, 2015.
