Kim, Eel-hwan, president of JNU, stressed "Enhancing Competitiveness and Fostering Global Universities." at the Inaugural Press Conference

President Kim said "JNU will strengthen its global competitiveness to become a university that people around the world want to attend."
At his first press conference since taking office, he said "Jeju National University rose 300 places, from the 600th to 300th place this year," adding “JNU members will join and make an achievement together and we will surpass the current 400-500th place in various world university evaluations in 4 years".
President Kim introduced the management vision of JNU as "Future Making Together, Leap Toward Novelty", and presented seven goals to achieve it.
The seven goals are as follows:△Fostering Creative Talents with Refinement and Future Competence △Creating a Research Ecosystem for Sustainable Growth △Happy Community Enjoyed by All University Members △Building a Futuristic Smart Campus △Rational Governance with Transparent Administration and Open Communication △Local Hub University that Coexists with Jeju △Proud University that Everyone Wants to Attend. He said, "We have selected and promoted 104 tasks as detailed tasks to achieve these seven goals.
"President Kim also stressed that "Under the value of sharing and cooperation, it is time for Jeju's local governments, universities, and regional innovation institutions to unite their capabilities and establish a sustainable human resource nurturing system that supports the economic and industrial sectors in Jeju."He promised to actively cooperate in establishing shared growth with Jeju by strengthening the university's regional innovation capabilities so that JNU's innovation can be linked to Jeju's innovation and coexist with each other.
In addition, he emphasized that “The future of Jeju National University is the future of Jeju and the future of Korea,” adding “we will make JNU a university that residents love and support, a university that everyone wants to attend, and a university that everyone is proud of.”
