Acquisition of International Certification for Residual Pesticide Analysis Technology 'FAPAS'

The Human Interface Media Center (Director, Professor Lee Bong-kyu), affiliated with Jeju National University(JNU), participated in the "International Analysis Ability Assessment (FAPAS)" in the field of residual pesticide analysis, and has won worldwide recognition for its excellence in analytical technology.
The Food Analysis Performance Assessment Scheme (FAPAS) is an international comparative proficiency program organized by the British Food and Environmental Research Agency.
The agency evaluates proficiency in 10 areas, including residual pesticides, heavy metals and food additives, and is recognized for its global authority. Therefore, government agencies, universities, and private analysis institutions around the world are actively participating in this program in order to be recognized as world-class research institutes.
As for the evaluation criteria, if the Z-Score is calculated with the result value submitted by the analysis institution participating in the relevant field, and the result is confirmed as the absolute value of 2 or less, it is judged that the analysis ability is satisfactory.
Human Interface Media Center in JNU received results within ±0.5 for all 12 pesticide components and proved its excellence in analysis ability.
Regarding the implementation of the Positive List System (PLS), Lee Jung-ah, head of the analysis team, said, "We will maintain the international level of analysis capabilities to increase the reliability of analysis of hazardous substances in agricultural products, thereby enhancing the stability of agricultural products and consumer confidence in Jeju."
