젖소 수술후 90일이상 생존..말기심장질환자 치료 가능성 열어
Milk cow survives over 90 days after surgery and raises hope for terminally ill cardiac patients

Professors Lee Kyung Gap and Chung Jong Tae with their teams of co-workers in the JNU College of Veterinary Medicine succeeded for the first time to conduct the animal test with a Korean made VAD machine (Ventricular Assist Device, or pace-maker).
The test animal, milk cow, was equipped with the pace maker and as planned it survived for more than 90 days last month (May 24, 2015).
The VAD unit used for the animal test conducted at Jeju National University was manufactured by Libra Heart Co. technically developed by Professor Choi Sung Wook of Kangwon National University and Professor Lee Jung Chan of Seoul National University.
With the success achieved, a Korean made pace-maker raises the great hope to treat the cardiac disease patients at an affordable cost.
