College of Pharmacy - Yuhan, MOU for the Development of Natural medicine ingredients from Native Plants

The College of Pharmacy (Dean Lee, Sang Ho) at Jeju National University (JNU) and Yuhan Care R&D Center (CTO Joshua Park) signed a MOU aimed at developing Jeju’s native plant-based functional natural materials at JNU.

Yuhan Care has been researching and investing in processing technology that discovers scientifically proven natural materials through its affiliated organization, ‘Yuhan Natural Product R&D Center’, then verifies the functionality of active ingredients and extracts them with high purity content.

The College of Pharmacy at JNU has been focusing on new drug development research using marine resources and native plants in Jeju by utilizing the research infrastructure of the Jeju Pharmaceutical Research Institute and its faculty.

Through this agreement, the College of Pharmacy at JNU, together with Yuhan Care R&D Center, will establish a close research cooperation system to develop functional raw materials for pharmaceuticals and health functional foods based on native plants of Jeju.

Yuhan Care R&D Center will screen various functions of Jeju native plants currently held by the JNU’s College of Pharmacy and then evaluate animal model efficacy, and promote follow-up research and development. Henceforth, it is planning to produce various products (from health functional food to natural medicine) using this research collaboration.
