Jeju Government and KOICA to collaborate with JNU for Center establishment



Plan for a Jeju Center for international cooperation is being implemented under the tripartite collaboration between Jeju Autonomous Government/Korea International Cooperation Agency and Jeju National University an MOU signing formality last Friday (August 21, 2015).

Under the agreement the Jeju Center provides education and assistance for the Jeju provincial residents and organizations to explore and develop new Official development assistance (ODA) projects. In addition, the program encourages partners and develops networking among the project participants.

The Jeju Center will also play a role for providing service to the World Friends Korea (WFK) volunteers program.

This year’s KOICA project includes supplying desks and chairs to Korean Hangeul School and it also plan to develop underwater drinking wells in East Timor. Another plan calls for collecting books to Indo Himalayan Library.

As Jeju commemorates its 10th anniversary of being designated the world peace island, Jeju Governor Won Hee Ryong (photo center) emphasized the importance of the newly established Jeju Center in the implementation and expansion of KOICA’s ODA program.
