Human Interface Media Center, designated as the first agricultural product pesticide residue inspection agency in Jeju

The Human Interface Media Center (Director, Professor Lee Bong-kyu, http://www.enajeju.com) has been designated as the first agricultural product pesticide residue inspection agency in Jeju, which is capable of inspecting 463 pesticide residues by the National Agricultural Products Quality Management Service.

The designation is respon to the expansion of the residual pesticide test components of agricultural products from 320 to 463 newly announced by the National Agricultural Products Quality Management Service this year.

The center explained that Jeju has its own inspection system and can strengthen the safety management of agricultural products in the region.

Jeju National University was designated as a 'safety inspection institution' (No. 63) by the National Agricultural Products Quality Management Service in June 2021, and has been tasked with analyzing harmful substances on agricultural products.

The center also participated in the Food Analysis Performance Assessment Scheme (FAPAS) organized by the British Food Environment Research Institute in April and was recognized worldwide for its excellence in analysis technology.

Researcher Kim Min-jung said, "We will maintain international level of analysis capabilities to increase the safety and consumer confidence of agricultural products in Jeju."
